Finally Jordan Crawling- caught on tape

by Juliemara

I took this video the other night before bed time. We give the girls their bedtime bottles on our bed then let them play a few minutes edited we put them in their cribs. Im sure the day will come when we will drink bottles and read stories on the couch all together but for now out bed is a good spot for this ritual. They are so cute at this time, relaxed after their bath, full from their bottles and excited to play in the soft linens and pillows of our bed.

Come join the fun

by Juliemara

We are lucky to live in a city where people get together. People find any and every excuse to get out and enjoy the day, the weather and each others company. This past weekend we had the pleasure of being invited to join a group of about fifteen young families at a park. We all have babies about the same age so we all have lots in common and we are all in that same place so it’s a good group to talk about frustrations or relish in the joys of being moms and dads for the first time. Many months ago the organizer of this outing hosted a brunch at her house for 12 pregnant women, here is the result no of the brunch, but of an eight month wait.
Talia and Jordan Love being outside, they gor all dresses up in Carters fancy clothes for the occasion. It’s impossible for me to get a picture of both of them smiling at the same time, here’s Jordan sort of smiling. Here is Talia smiling. Here is Jordan doing something, Here you go, those are pretty good smiles. That’s Livia, Talia and Jordans friend in the photo with them. And here are all four of the girls together! It’s really convenient that all these girls moms are friends since they are so close!

A letter to my babies

by Juliemara

Today girls you are 1/2  a year old, six months you have lived. You have changed so much in these six months, I can’t begin to understand how tiny humans can go through such a huge transformation in such a short time. You no longer scream bloody murder when we change your diaper, in fact you enjoy it, like it’s another fun game we play. You eat three times as much as you did your first week alive and your are three times the size. It has been such a pleasure to have have the chance to be your mom and to get to know who you are and try to figure out who you will be, I look forward to the next six months and cherish the these past six. There are things I wanted to do for you before you were born that  wasn’t able to mostly because I was in too much pain. I have gotten to some of those things and others I have forgotten about and realized they are no longer important. I wanted to tell you the story of your birth before you turned six months, but I just haven’t had the time to write it down, I promise I will do it before your first birthday. I also want to congratulate you and say thank you for being such good little breast feeders, I am so proud of you and my self for have accomplished that, another story I will tell before you turn one. Your Abba and I have a fun first summer planned for you, you won’t remember it except from the millions of pictures we will take but we will know you loved it because your smiles say everything.

Dear Talia, My first born. You were suppose to be baby B, or so we thought, you were the whole time you were inside me. You insisted on going first and thus created a jam for both of you. You were so tiny. Your arm was the size of my index finger, the skin around it so soft and wrinkly. Your eyes blinked equally from the top and bottom. Despite being so tiny you made sure to always let everyone know exactly how you felt good and bad. You still do. You smile at everyone! Your scream with every ounce of emotion when you are unhappy, which we are quickly realizing can be because you are hungry, tired or want the toy that Jordan has. We let you get away with that now, but eventually you will not always get your way. You love to sleep with something on your face, your lovey, your blanket or your hands. Your favorite toy for a long time was the multi color orb rattle, but now you seem to love the crinkle book. You love to jump and jump and jump. In the past few days your face has started to change, I’m not sure how to describe how but you look more girly, your smile is getting bigger, your cheeks fuller I’m not sure it’s possible but I think you get sweeter everyday. I love that you are my baby, I miss you when you are sleeping, I love waking up to your cries (since you usually wake up first). Talia, your name morning dew suites you perfect, you are such a sweet gentle part of my morning, you are dramatic and beautiful. I love you. Happy 1st half birthday.

Dear Jordan, You have my initials that I had before I got married, so when you are ready for big girl jewelry, let me know and I will give you all my jewelry with my JMS monogram. You were born bright red, the color of a beet. I still don’t know why, no one at your hospital seem to be worried about it. You had the roundest fullest cheeks, you still do. You are such a sweet baby, you are calm and reserved, you go with the flow, you rarely cry. So when you do, we can’t help but jump because something must be wrong if YOU are crying.  For the longest time you were our good sleeper, sleeping all the time, sometimes hard to wake up and recently you decided you had no interest in bed time and would just cry, loud. We couldn’t help but give in, I hope you enjoyed those nights when you got to stay up late and fall asleep in your swing because we don’t plan on letting you do that often.  You are a kind baby always checking on your big sister, patting her head and reaching for her hand. You give the best baby hugs and are such a good snuggler. You love to sleep in the carrier, and I thank you for that. I love that I can wear my baby while she sleeps so peacefully, its a good feeling for a mommy. You have learned how to blow spit through your lips and love to do it, all day long, spiting all over yourself and anyone who dares to come close.  You love your feet,  you have mastered the happy baby yoga pose, they should call it the happy mommy because nothing makes me smile more.  You love stories, you are s a great listener, even if you just stare at me and not the book, I’m ok with that.  I’m writing this as you sleep, I wish I could wake you to play with me, but I won’t, I’ll sleep myself and look forward to the morning. Where when you wake, you’ll tuck your hands into your neck, and stretch your elbows way up over your head before you can be bothered to open your eyes for the day. I love you. Happy 1st 1/2 birthday.

Baby sounds

by Juliemara

Talia and Jordan are learning new things everyday. In the last few days Talia has discovered her squeaky voice and been practicing using it non stop and Jordan has discovered a new sound she can make by blowing air through her lips. She especially loves doing this when she has enough spit to blow bubbles with. Each baby has its own unique sounds that it makes when they first discover that they have a voice. In our house it’s fun to here these sounds and how they change every few days but it’s also really fun to see how different the babies are from each other. And they are just so freaking cute!

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend.

Four Months Old

by Juliemara

They are four months old. Jordan is just an ounce shy of double what she was when they were born at 12lbs 7 ounces. Talia has almost completely caught up to Jordan at 12lbs 4ounces. They are such happy babies. They smile, they make baby talk sounds, they even giggle a little bit here and there. They pick up toys, hold them, put them in their mouth. They hold hands and put them in their mouth. Their colds are finally going away (after two months). They still hate tummy time but love bath time, it’s in the real tub now. Their hair is growing, they sleep without being swaddled. They love walks and they still love their star. They are quickly growing out of their three month clothing. They eat slow. And they love stories.
Remember how small they were in their first week, six week, two month and three month pictures. Here they are now.20120221-225807.jpg20120221-225415.jpg20120221-225407.jpg20120221-225427.jpg20120221-225438.jpg20120221-225448.jpg20120221-225457.jpg20120221-225507.jpg20120221-225518.jpg20120221-225529.jpg20120221-225546.jpg20120221-225609.jpg20120221-225841.jpg20120221-225853.jpg20120221-225914.jpg20120221-225925.jpg20120221-225935.jpg20120221-225944.jpg20120221-230126.jpg20120221-230135.jpg20120221-230148.jpg20120221-230217.jpg20120221-230246.jpg20120221-230334.jpg20120221-230346.jpg20120221-230355.jpg

4 month pediatrician visit

by Juliemara

The girls have reached four months old. They are no longer newborns. Of course they are still considered infants but they are so alert and curious and responsive infant just doesn’t seem like the right description for them. Really good babies sounds much better. They didn’t remember what happened the last time they went to the dr. so they were all smiles until the shots time came, I was a bit nervous for them, the needles were bigger this time, They screamed bloody murder for a few minutes but calmed quickly once we held and fed them. I stayed home from work to be with them and make sure they didn’t have any bad reactions. The were a little grumpy throughout the day but mostly they were just sleepy. We even got a few smiles out of them here and there. After their two month visit they were so upset that I called to ask if I could give them baby Tylenol and the nurse advised the dosage, this time I asked the dr about giving them the Tylenol and he said I should not. They think that the vaccinations do not work as well if combined with the Tylenol. He said that I did it once was no big deal but that I shouldn’t this time and he wasn’t thrilled that his nurse gave me the wrong information.

I’m sure you are wondering… What are the stats?!

Talia Rose Sack

weighed in at 12lbs4oz

measured 24 inches long

She is in the 10%-25% percentile for weight and 25%-50% for height. These numbers are for full term babies, so the doc was pleased that they were even on the chart.

Jordan Mia Sack

weighed in a 12lbs7oz

measured 23″ long

She is in the 10%-25% percentile for weight and the 5%-10% for height.

He also told us about SOLIDS! that we should start with rice cereal once a day for a week before they turn six months, then move to oatmeal once a day for a week and after that veggies, one new one every few days until their six month appointment. My husband is very excited about cooking for the girls, he has been talking about taking them to food markets around the world since the day we found out I was pregnant!

Sunday Funday

by Juliemara

We had such a fun weekend and did so much it’s hard for me to find time to blog about it all. Sunday was especially fun. We invited two couples over with their babes to have brunch and play!
There were plenty of toys.

The dads had fun!

The moms had fun.

At Bumbo time Talia and Jordan weren’t quite sure what to make of all of it.

But their friend Ella who is three months older promised to make sure they were OK.

Then we moved to the floor so the girls could stretch out.

Ella being older and wiser was demonstrating her fantastic yoga ability.

Right into Jordan’s face.

Miss Livia, who is totally obsessed with her mom stared at her the whole time, didn’t take her eyes off her once!

As a mom I never feel like I have enough pictures of myself with the girls or with the family as a whole, because I’m almost always the one taking the pictures, so I made sure that each family got a family picture. I love how they tuned out.

Sleeping update

by Juliemara

Last night at 7:30 when we put the girls to bed I said to myself “lo and behold” which is the same thing the angles in the new testament said to the shepherds to announce the birth of baby Jesus, because after yesterday’s bedtime two hour crying marathon the girls fell asleep without a sound tonight! I was just that amazed! Jordan woke up about an hour later and cried for 10 minutes then when back to sleep. At around 12:30 they both woke up, I think, maybe it was just one, I was too sleepy to really remember. At this time at night we still get up to give them thier pacifiers. Well work on getting them to fall back asleep on their own next week, one thing at a time. We gave them their pacifiers 2-4 times, until 3am, when we fed them, I don’t know how many times my husband got up to give them their pacifiers, I know I got up twice, I think. Then they slept until 5:45. So while it’s not a perfect pattern yet, it’s a good start and we are confident that we will not have toddlers that bang on the door screaming while we hold it shut from the other side, like on TV.

Jordan’s diaper looks like its dirty, but I promise it’s not, it’s just a shadow.
